Achieve a non-surgical facelift with advanced dermal filler techniques From our late 20s onwards, most of us notice our skin slowly starting to lose volume and elasticity as fine lines and wrinkles begin to emerge. This is because our natural stores of collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, and subcutaneous fat all start to deplete.
Although surgical facelifts continue to be popular, a growing number of people are looking for less invasive ways to rejuvenate their face, seeking treatment options that aren’t associated with surgery, general anaesthetic or long recovery times, and are temporary.
The 8-point lift is sometimes referred to as the ‘non-surgical facelift’ or ‘liquid facelift’. With this treatment, we use dermal fillers in eight key areas of your face to gently lift and enhance your features, giving you a more youthful appearance. The treatment is excellent because it gives us a chance to consider your face in its entirety, and make subtle changes to create balance and definition around your eyes, cheeks, mouth and jawline.
We'll give you honest, ethical advice that's focused on your unique skin needs.
We'll help you to decide on the right treatment for your skin, lifestyle and budget.
We'll give you in-depth aftercare instructions and are always on the end of the phone.
During the 8-point lift treatment, we inject dermal fillers into eight key points of your face to restore lost volume, smooth and tighten your skin, and re-contour the shape of your face so you still look like you, but a younger, refreshed version. Using the 8-point lift techniques, we can create subtle lift and enhancements without you having to undergo facelift surgery that can’t be reversed.
You should see a visible improvement immediately after your treatment, although it can take up to two weeks for the full results to become apparent.
Dermal fillers are widely used and have been subject to extensive clinical testing in order to become FDA-approved. This means that they each have a proven safety record.
An 8-point lift should always be carried out by a suitably experienced and qualified medical professional who has been trained in the procedure and understands how to subtly enhance your facial structure and features using dermal fillers.
Generally speaking, you won’t need to take any downtime after this treatment. It should only take 45-60 minutes to perform and you will be able to drive and go about your daily activities straight away. The results are natural-looking, subtle and should begin to be evident immediately after your treatment.
Before you have an 8-point lift at Glen Eden Aesthetics, we’ll talk to you in detail about the pros and cons of this treatment, potential side effects, and anything you should know about your aftercare. It is important that you have all the information you need to make an informed decision about what’s right for you.
For the best results, we would recommend that you avoid any strenuous exercise, alcohol, anti-inflammatories, sun exposure and heat from a spa or sauna for 24 hours. If you want to wear make-up, we recommend mineral make-up only for the first 24 hours.
Dermal fillers are not currently treated as ‘prescription-only medicine’, which means that they can potentially be administered by non-medical professionals. However, side effects are far more common and pose a greater risk in the wrong hands, which is why we would always urge you to have an 8-point lift through an experienced doctor, dentist or independent nurse prescriber.
Glen Eden Aesthetics is a doctor-led clinic, where your treatment will be carried out by Dr John Elder himself or a highly experienced nurse practitioner to ensure that you are in safe hands.
The eight key areas of the face where ageing occurs are:
1 & 2: Cheek structure – This area loses volume and definition over time.
3: Tear troughs – Hollow tear troughs can leave you looking tired.
4: Nasolabial folds – These nose-to-mouth lines tend to get deeper as your skin loses volume, but it can give your face a sad, downturned appearance.
5: Sad mouth – If your skin has lost some of its elasticity, the corners of your mouth may look downturned and sad when your face is relaxed.
6: Pre-jowl area – As your skin loses collagen and elastin, your jawline may become less defined and you may begin to see the beginning of jowls.
7: Jawline – Another effect of lax skin is that your jawline may lose its youthful definition.
8: Cheek volume – Loss of volume mid-face can make your cheeks look hollow and drawn.
The 8-point lift addresses each of these areas using advanced precision techniques for injecting dermal fillers. It enables us to take a more comprehensive ‘whole face’ approach when compared to single dermal filler treatments.
The results of using dermal fillers for an 8-point lift are temporary. How long they last will depend on your individual case. On average, most people continue to notice improvements for two to three months post-treatment as the dermal fillers fully settle, and the results typically continue to be visible for between nine and 12 months, after which you may decide to have a top-up treatment.
This treatment is likely to be most effective if you are in your late 30s onwards and have fairly mild skin laxity, but we have achieved excellent outcomes for older patients with more significant sagging skin.
To establish whether you’re a suitable candidate, we recommend that you come into Glen Eden Aesthetics for an initial consultation so that we can give you advice that’s appropriate to your unique case.
You may experience some mild bruising, swelling or redness at the injection sites after the treatment. You should be able to cover this up with mineral make-up until it resolves.
More prolonged or severe side effects are rare but possible and include allergic reactions, infection, lumps or sores at the injection site, migration of the filler, and vision abnormalities.
There have been rare case reports of very serious complications associated with hyaluronic fillers, such as blindness, when the filler was accidentally injected into a blood vessel. However, in the hands of an experienced medical professional who understands facial anatomy, side effects tend to be mild and resolve without intervention.
New patients often ask us whether they’ll still look like themselves after this treatment. We definitely take a ‘less is more’ approach at Glen Eden Aesthetics. Our aim is to be strategic about where we inject the dermal fillers and the quantities we use so that you experience all of the benefits of this treatment, while still looking like you – albeit a younger, rested version!
We are happy to arrange a follow-up appointment to see how the injections have worked and whether you need a top-up in any areas. One of the many benefits of having an 8-point lift is that, because the dermal fillers are temporary, we can adapt future treatments if your needs change.
